Longines is proud to welcome Giulia Steingruber, the Swiss gymnastic star and Swiss Athlete of the Year in the prestigious family of Longines Ambassadors of Elegance. The partnership was arranged by sportsemotion.

The Swiss watch brand Longines officially presented today in Saint-Imier its new Longines Ambassador of Elegance. The gymnastic star will represent a model in steel and rose gold cap from the Conquest Classic collection. Housing a mechanical calibre, this magnificent watch features a white mother-of-pearl dial and 12 diamond indices.

Voted Swiss Athlete of the Year in 2013, the popular Giulia Steingruber has been excelling at the European Championships, notably in winning the gold medal in the vault two years in a row, in 2013 and this year in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she also won the bronze medal in the floor exercise. “Gymnastics requires power, flexibility and elegance – a key feature of any Longines watch,” underlines Giulia. “It’s an honour for me to join the Longines Ambassadors family and I look forward to our collaboration!”

Embodying at the same time elegance and precision, grace and dynamism, Giulia perfectly represents the core values of Longines, as stated in its slogan: “Elegance is an Attitude”. After a visit of Longines’ museum and production facilities in Saint-Imier, the new Longines Ambassador of Elegance gave then interviews to the journalists and signed autographs to the young members of the local gymnastics club invited for the occasion.

This year we only had one week summer holidays, because at the beginning of October there will be the World Championship in China. Together with all the gymnasts of the national team we spent the last 10 days in a trainingscamp in Thessaloniki (Greece). We worked hard beginning with jogging and exercises in the morning before breakfast and 2 trainings sessions per  day. But we also had time to enjoy the summer in Greece. It was a hard but wonderful time. Now we are back in Magglingen (Switzerland) and the work goes on to finally will find a good end in China.

The defense on vault and Bronce Medal on floor. What a happy day!!!

What great feelings at the European Champion Ships at Sofia. Gold Medal on vault and additional a Bronce Medal on floor. I was so happy and got back home very confident. I would like to give a big “THANK YOU” to my trainer Zoltan Jordanov. He is knowing me so good and the close collaboration with him makes me feel very balanced. With the 6th Place on the EM team qualification we hit the team final competition on Saturday. I’m very glad that i also hit three apparatus finals: Vault, floor and balance beam. Competition will take place on Sunday. So happy to be a part of this EM-TEAM!!

From 12 to 18 May 2014 in Sofia (Bulgaria), the European Championships for elite and junior take place.

At the European Championship every two years the team competition and the apparatus finals will take place at the elite. There is no all-around final. The team consists of five gymnasts, but on each appartus only three gymnast will do their performances.

My big goal is to defend the European title in vault! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

We have spruced up my website in time for spring. For this purpose the agency TKF Kommunikation & Design has devised and developed a concept, paying attention to detail.

In addition to a cool design, it was important to come across like I really am: Natural and, well, just like me. We succeeded in doing this. You can look forward to photos, news and other information about my career highlights and even my favourite pizza.
